Acoustic Potentials of Urban Surfaces
Fraunhofer-Institute for Building Physics IBP introduced the concept of „Acoustic Potentials of Urban Surfaces” in the Symposium as a reaction to tremendously increasing noise levels in larger cities in China like Beijing or Shanghai. For that purpose, the treatment of ambient sound by means of controlling sound transmission, diffraction, refraction and absorption from sources to receivers with walls and surfaces of buildings are of great importance. But, it is a challenge using currently existing surfaces with innovative concepts and technologies intelligently and integrating the sound masking effect by means of soundscape cleverly.
