The Bruck Passive House is the first building in China to be awarded Platinum Certification by the DGNB (the German Sustainable Building Council). The five-story building accommodates a total of 46 apartments with a floor space of 2,200 m² and has a primary energy demand (including electricity for lighting and appliances) of just 106 kWh/m²a. The Passive House demonstrates the potential for innovative, energy-efficient and sustainable building design in China under extreme weather conditions: the summer climate in the region around Changxing, to the west of Shanghai, is predominantly damp and warm.
